истПолитический скандал, произошедший в конце XVIII в. в штате Джорджия, когда выяснилось, что в 1795 представители органов власти штата получили взятку за разрешение продать земли огромной площади за символическую сумму в 500 тыс. долларов (то есть по цене примерно 1,5 цента за акр) четырем коммерческим компаниям (позднее эти земли составят большую часть территории штатов Алабама и Миссисипи). Часть законодателей были партнерами в фирмах-покупателях. Новое законодательное собрание в 1796 признало акт продажи недействительным, но в 1810 Верховный суд США [ Supreme Court, U.S.] в решении по делу "Флетчер против Пека" [ Fletcher v. Приток р. Миссисипи [ Mississippi River] длиной 304 км. Протекает по центральной части штата Миссисипи в южном и юго-западном направлении; на протяжении 280 км ее течение параллельно руслу р. Миссисипи. Образуется слиянием рек Таллахачи [Tallahatchie River] и Ялобуша [Yalobusha River]. Впадает в р. Миссисипи у г. Виксберга [ Vicksburg]. Район дельты реки - один из крупнейших районов хлопководства на Юге [ South]. Судоходна. Долина подвержена наводнениям.
